(SSR16-115) AMRITA YOGA

    TITLE :
“AMRITA YOGA”

·         The aim of our project was to popularize and spread yoga and its advantages to the younger generations so that they lead a healthy lifestyle in today’s corrupted and polluted world

4.       ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN
·         Underwent a training  program(conducted by Amritayoga,  Amritapuri)
·         Apprised  students of Amrita Vidyalayam, Haripad of Amritayoga.     
·         Celebrated  International Yoga Day at AV Haripad.                                                                                                    


5.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :

Today’s lifestyle has a significant effect on all especially the youth. The world of technology has almost eradicated the happier and healthier living. Only through such practices like yoga and meditation can we regain back the long lost secret to happiness

7.       ACHIEVEMENTS :
                Succesfully completed 2-day Amritayoga training at Amritapuri.
Celebrated Yoga day at AV Haripad.
Was able to engage a mass of 200+ students.
Our training was recorded and telecasted on Amrita TV(Top ten @10) on 20th and 21st June, 2016.
The official Facebook page of Amritayoga (Amritapuri) posted the same.
                                                                               


8.       OBSTACLES FACED :
Our aim was to train school students and to find a school was a tedious task. After short listing few schools, principal of AV, Haripad was the only person who permitted us to conduct the session on 21st June. We owe a sincere thanks to her and the team at Amrita Vidyalayam who provided us with such an opportunity and helped us make proper arrangements for the classes.

The Amritayoga training campaign conducted by the Ashram proved to be a vital turning point in removing our ignorance. Amritayoga definitely has made a great impact in our lives. When we decided to teach the school students, engaging them was a huge boulder before us.

           Lack of sanitation awareness and public hygiene
          Acute water scarcity during summer season

·         Not even a single toilet in the village
·         Unexpected cloudburst
·         Language, as most of them didn’t know Hindi
·         Stay in the village
·         Lack of time because of travel

9.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
·         504 hours

10.   ROAD AHEAD :
·         Arrange some programmes for them in the ashram
·         Visit the village atleast twice a year.

(SSR16-020) BE THE CHANGE,TRANSFORM YOUR MIND, BODY AND THOUGHTS


1.        TITLE:
                       “BE THE CHANGE,TRANSFORM YOUR MIND, BODY  AND THOUGHTS”

2.        MISSION:
·         We have gone through the yoga session for 2 hours in the morning after National Anthem Later.
·         We take part in their class sessions and explained to solve problems in smart way.In the afternoon  we supplied meals.
·         We gave books and told to do yoga daily.

·         We performed yogasanas

·         Finally distributed books for students
5.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM:
·         As  a  village  many  of  the people are uneducated  and  mainly depends  on cultivation and agriculture.
·         We explained the need of education and basic rules which help them to survive and develop in society.
·         Many are  not studying because of not able to buy some basic needs like books  and some stationary items.

·         We were really happy to see the children enjoying our session with a whole lot of enthusiasm while doing yoga.
·         We got attached to the students and they invited us for our next visit during the December vacation.
8.       OBSTACLES FACED:
·         Acompanying with students at the same time bringing together
·         Lack of facilities
·         There were no proper toilets.
·         Providing food for students.

10.   ROAD AHEAD:
·         Most of the children ,  faculty in that school  included the YOGA in their daily curriculum
·         We are planning to visit again to meet them so that we could have an interaction with them.
·         We collect a feedback on their daily report after Yoga camp conducted by us.
11.   ROSES AND THORNS:
·         We are really happy that we had the opportunity to go to the students and interact with the people over there. We learned the hoe to talk with others.
·         It was a great experience and we could meet many people. We could see how people enjoyed by doing yoga.
·         We could literally see the difference before and after yoga.
·          On seeing them we are very happy.
·         This opportunity was really inspiring and also made each one of us to be thankful to God,thanks to CIR dept.

                                           i.            Made them aware of the need to conserve the environment.
                                         ii.            Planted tree saplings, showing the need for afforestation.
                                        iii.            A parade was conducted in remembrance of the freedom fighters and willingness of being a good citizen was brought out by each individual.

8.       OBSTACLES FACED :
                                 i.            There was language barrier where some of our team members had to speak in the local dialect for students to understand.

9.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
200 hours

1         FUTURE PLANS – ROAD AHEAD :
                                 i.            To convert this project like “SEED” which is an environment conserving programme by the local daily “MATHRUBHUMI”.
                               ii.            To put up recycling bins in schools so that each and every plastic material can be recycled and put to use.
                              iii.            To make students practice yoga so that they can gain by its long term benefits.
                             iv.            To make students aware of their nations f eedom fighters and to respect the culture , unity and diversity.

We enjoyed a lot by interacting with students and the students found this as a very great experience and we believe that we have inspired them by our campaign. The students took this as a very good opportunity to learn and also work forth to implementing certain measures in their lives and also to bring forth a change in the society.It was a great opportunity for us to come out and contribute to the values, culture and awareness that each one of us must have.
