AMRITA SeRVe 101 VILLAGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM,
MALCOPON, SOUTH GOA”

                   1.        MISSION :
·         To identify the issues relating to the seven focus areas listed by Amrita SeRVe and find solutions to tackle the same.
·         To instill a sense of social responsibility among students and cooperation among the villagers for the betterment of the villages.
·         To portray the importance of the Indian villages and understand the value they add to the country.

          Health Camp for the children of the village
          Amala Bharatam Campaign
          Tree Plantation Drive
          Introduction to OLABs at the High school, Malkernem and Higher Secondary School, Quepem
          IDY 2016(International Day of Yoga) Celebrations
          Amrita Awareness Ambassador(AAA) Program
          Science Camps
          Health Awareness talks, video sessions and hands-on activities
          Formation of Self Help Groups (SHGs) to propel Women Empowerment
          Surveys and Data Collection for analysis
          Kitchen Gardening and Organic Farming Awareness
          Cultural Competitions for kids
          Alcohol Awareness Play  as a part of the Eradication of Substance Abuse Campaign
          Gramotsav

                   4.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
           Water Scarcity as rainfalls are erratic
          Lack of Awareness about Education and Prevalence of Dropouts
          Lack of proper  Public Transport System
          Gambling
          Substance Abuse
          Issues of lack Hygiene and Sanitation
          Child Health and Nutrition

                  6.       THE  CONQUEST :
·         Successfully conducted the medical camp for the children
·         Introduced kitchen gardening and tree plantation initiatives
·         Started a team of youth to carry on the activities we started
·         Identified major concerns of sanitation and provided awareness and methods to eradicate the same
·         Started SHGs for various Women Empowerment programs
·         Identified alternate income generation opportunities like food processing and started framework for implementing the same
·         Successfully conducted the OLABs session

                  7.       OBSTACLES FACED :
·         Water scarcity
·         Food availability
·         No Amrita SeRVe fellow at the village
·         Limited Transportation facilities

                  8.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
·         200 hours

                  9.       ROAD AHEAD :
·         Implement Toilet Building Project in the Village
·         Train young children who can be our ambassadors to carry our work forward
·         Monitor the health of children in the village primary school
·         Ensure and Emphasise on timely Immunization
·         Formation of more SHGs for women empowerment
·         To appoint an AMRITA SeRVE fellow at the village for feedback assessment and project implementation.
