(SSR16-005) Awareness campaign on Government Policies to farmers

MISSION:
·         To create awareness to farmers about the government policies.
·         To help farmers by spreading awareness about farmponds.

·         PLACE:
VATLURU, West Godavari district, Andhra pradesh
ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
·         We approached a SARPANCH and discussed about farmponds
·         In Vatluru village, we explained briefly about the advantages of farmponds to farmers.
·         We done farming 45 minutes a day for 3 days.
·         We approached an MLA and shared our ideas about water harvesting tanks.
·         We shared our ideas on water harvesting tanks with many households and explained its advantages.
·         We also explained the things required in the tank for purification of water.
·         Next, we went to Sir C.R.R Public School and created awareness among the students on Yoga because one can be healthy by doing Yoga.
4.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM:
·         When we thought of doing SSR Project the aspects that occurred in mind are :
a) Food
b) Water
c) Healthy life
The only possible way to overcome those problems are to enhance the following areas:
Farming
Advantages of Farm Ponds
Water Harvesting System
Yoga

6.       THE CONQUEST:
·         We received applaud from MLA for our ideas on saving water using water harvesting tanks and filtering pipe and rain water.
·         After finishing the explanation of water harvesting system to the households we felt ourselves achieving something for the first time in our life.
·         We also received praises from our family members and colleagues for our programs.
·         We received a wage of Rs.52 each per day for farming. We donated that amount to farmers.
·         We felt very happy some of the households started water harvesting techniques in their houses listening to our words.
7.       OBSTACLES FACED:
·         Convincing the principal to conduct the awareness program on Yoga in their busy schedule and children to attend the awareness session.
·         Making children underatand how important it is for their future if they want to proceed with a healthy life.
·         Convincing the Principal to conduct a Yoga run.
·         While farming, we understood how difficult it is.

8.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT:
·         24 hours

9.        ROAD AHEAD:
·         We want to conduct more awareness programmes like this in coming future.
·         We also want to implement new technologies in farming to the local farmers
          ROSES AND THORNS:
·         It was a learning as well as fun experience. We realized how difficult it can be just to bring people together for a sessions.The surveys were very exhausting. This all together has taught us teamwork, coordination and taking up responsibilities.
·         We gained experiences in many aspects. Especially, we never thought of doing farm work but fortunately we experienced that as a part of SSR Project. We also experienced a meet with higher officials and researched about government policies. Also, experienced of creating awareness to a group of people.
