5. BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
i. According to WHO report, only nine million units are collected annually, while the need is for 12 million units.
ii. Delhi NCR alone faces a shortage of 1 million units per year.
iii. The issue of blood shortage is also due to lack of voluntary donors.

7. ACHIEVEMENTS :
i. We are successful in conducting BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on behalf of “WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY, 2016”.
ii. We successfully collected 62 units of blood, which can serve 186 recipients .
8. OBSTACLES FACED :
i. Ignorance and illiteracy
ii. Blood is sold at a high premium
iii. Inconvenience due to location and timing of blood collection
iv. Apprehension of post donation reaction
9. TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
3 hours a day.

i. Conduct blood donation camps on a large scale.
ii. Provide awareness to relatives and friends.

“There is no better service to the society than giving life to somebody one doesn’t even know. Reiterating this fact, a blood donation camp was organized by Amrita University in association with the Indian Red Cross Society on June 12, 2016 where students, faculty and staff members came forward to support the noble drive. This helped us to know facts about the scenario of the blood banks in India.”
