“I am really
thankful to Amma for giving an opportunity to become a part of Amrita family
and Amrita serve. Each day at Wayanad was like a new page in my life.. We went
there with an intention of doing service, but later we realised that Amma is not
only focused on transforming them but also transfigure us. We have a lot to
learn from them. In the brink of poverty and starvation they never failed to
give an innocent smile. They respect
each other and they live with mutual support and their hospitality and care for
other being is incredible. They live with rhythm of nature.”, DEVIKA C
·
“After
coming back from the village, I knew that there is some changes in me. When I went home my siblings told that I
became more responsible than before. Earlier I only when my mom demand to do
something then only I will think about to do that. But now I am doing those
without anybodys compulsion. May be living as team, or cooking together or
eating by sharing during the village transform me like this. Also those days
taught me how to adjust anybody or how to live in any situation. I feel it is
really great”, MEENU RAJ C
·
“The Adivasi’s
are the first settlers on this land and yet because of historical and
geographical reasons they have been forced to not develop when all the rest of
humanity did. But then these people had not thrown away the culture as well as
the practices of their own. They are as warmly welcoming as the others, they
have the basic love and consideration for others and mother nature… and
whatever they take from the nature ,they do it with reverence and devotion. They
may lack financially but they are still willing to help who needs it. I learnt
from them, how happy they are with their simple lifestyle and made a gentle
reminder to know the value of each and everything God has blessed us with and
not pine for yet more and more out of greed.”, AMRITASARANYA V R
·
“The
science camps, the AAA program, the games played all strengthened the bond with
the kids. Looking at the photos taken now, I still find a piece of me left
there somewhere.I personally think that me as a person has changed a lot since
my visit to the village. Earlier, I was just a student who felt comfortable
within my circle. After my return, I have become more confident. I’m trying to
come out of my comfort zone. I feel a need to make a mark wherever I go. Going
and speaking to the villagers has definitely improved my speaking skill. In
total, the things experienced and the bonding made will always remain close to
my heart”, ANANIA S
·
“I have always wondered what's the
life of those who live far from the huzzle-buzzle of the city, those who find
it extremely difficult to earn their bread and butter. Each and every day in
the village was memorable. It was my first village experience and it was
amazing. The love and affection shown to us by the villagers, especially the
children, was incredible.I have learnt to live a life of simplicity and
compassion after being there.”, ATHIRA S NAIR
·
“It was a nice experience in Wayand
with lot of fun and memories.I remember an eight year old girl telling me about
how her grandmother taught her to chew betel .I was impressed the way kids wish
‘Namashivaya’before entering the tuition class. The last day at the village was
memorable with the villagers traditional dance, the kids were almost in tears
and I was touched experiencing such innocent love .Overall it was a great time
with lots of values and satisfaction.’’,DEVIKA NAIR S
