7.       THE CONQUEST:
·         Spiritual Happiness
As amma says “Happiness is surrendering to god.” we surrendered ourselves to the love and gratitude shown by those little hearts that were surrounding us.
·         The meaning of education
We learnt that just the way happiness doubles on sharing the thought, the value of our knowledge grows enormously when we share it with others.

8.       OBSTACLES FACED:
·         Lack of equipment:
·       We were faced with the challenge of lack of projectors. We had to procure projectors from a school and carry it ourselves to all the different schools every day we visited them.
·         Distant Schools
·         The schools that we went to were very distant from each other. We had to travel seven kilo meters between each school. We had no means of transportation and had to wait for buses.
·         Power and electricity
·         The power was not favourable at the time. The village was not provided with abundant power

9.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT:
·         48 hours

1        ROAD AHEAD:
As a part of our future plan, we thought we would visit the village every six months and meet those little children that we taught. We thought of giving them some training as to how to excel in their field. We want to teach them the “CONTRIBUTOR” way of life. They weren’t aware of how to operate computers, so we would love to teach them the necessary skills in needed in computing for survival. We also took permission from the principals and headmasters, they agreed to let us take sessions like this whenever we are free.
            ROSES AND THORNS:
Our experience in doing this social responsibility project was amazing. It made us realise what is means to be a contributor. It was a truly sublime experience. We never could have imagined that we would be able to do this much in such a short time. We were able to interact with many children, learn their dreams and help them take a step forward towards their dreams. We are still ecstatic about the fact that we would visit them every six months to see how much they have achieved and would love to clear their doubts about anything.

(SSR16 - 098) CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAM

   MISSION :
·         10th class students often don’t know the various career options they have before them and are left to select from very few options.
·         This problem is limits their abilities  at 10th grade level itself.
·         Therefore we felt that we should lay out all the options atleast in front of some of them and let them decide based on their interests.

SANJAY VARMA –AM.EN.U4CSE14048
·         PLACE :
MVR Gaalaxy School, Nalgonda and Government School, Village Nagaram

4.       ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN :
Presented a presentation on various careers
Had an interactive session with the students regarding career options open to them

5.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
India is a country with a population of  billion people and almost one third are uneducated .This according to us is one of the main reasons which is holding India and its citizens back from developing.
There are a few moments in one’s life when, he has to take life changing decisions, one such decision is selecting which stream to choose after 10th, which course to do after 12th and to apply for job.
Children or students who have educated parents have their parents to help but what about those who are the first from their family to go to the school.

7
         THE  CONQUEST :
           To Students -

They were very much satisfied with the session which we planned for them and had a pretty clear idea in the end which path to choose for their career.

To Us -
·         Gained more knowledge about various careers.
·         Felt happy by helping our little brothers.

8       OBSTACLES FACED :
·         The main challenge involved was breaking the jinx of the students that there were only a couple of career options they could consider. It took a while to get them out of that hole.
·         We as engineering students were a little biased towards canvasing our stream but it was a challenge not to do the same.
·         We had to do an in-depth study of each of the streams and tell them what were the pros and cons in detail.
·         This was the first career counselling session they were attending, therefore it was a challenge to keep them on track and lay out all the options in front them.
·         The questions posed were more real life than subject based and it made us  to share a few of our experiences to answer some of their questions.

9      TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
·         25 Hrs ( 5 Teammates)

1       ROAD AHEAD :
·         Hold similar sessions in different institutions and in the process, spread awareness among a larger group of students.
·         Spread awareness among parents to show them various career options and urge them not to put pressure on their children and to support their interest zones.
·         To prepare an even more better powerpoint.
·         Present by giving them more real life examples.

1          ROSES AND THORNS :
“It was such a good feeling to be back at school though, it was only for a day. It brought back many old memories, watching the students we felt so responsible as we had come there to guide them. It was a great responsibility as we had to encourage to select an appropriate career. We had researched a lot before presenting before them and atlast everything went well.”
