Project Overview:
In today’s life, the major problem is lack of cleanliness, pollution and also lack of awareness towards society. We had been to a college near to Anantapur. Our main view is to enlighten the present generation about the increasing pollution in the world, and how to inhibit the rising pollution.
Background of the problem:
  • Awareness among the present generation about rising pollution that results in global warming.
  • Cleanliness which our country’s present motto to have a clean and green around. (as a part of Swach Bharath Mission )

Team:
U Likhith Kumar Reddy       - U4ECE14158
D Sai Surya                         - U4ECE14121
M Surya Chaitanya Reddy    - U4ECE14138
G K Mourya                        - U4ECE14123
Project:
Our project went on with peaks and toughs for three days. On the first day we had a session with college students about cleanliness around the world. The session went with some lectures from the team and from the superiors of the college. In the afternoon session of the day we went to municipal office of anantapur and went on with clean-up drive. The next day is the tough day of our project. Its been with the saplings from the nursery due to some Haritaharam which is going on in our state at that time. Finally we got only seventy saplings that too with some recommendations from the officials. Our day has been done with that including the students. Later we had some refreshments with those students in the evening. Finally the third day we together dug some pits for saplings in the morning session and we are almost done with that. For planting we thought of one more day but students said that they are ready for doing it on the same day and we went on with that planting the saplings. It took around seven in the evening. And we ended up there.
Objectives:
  • To plant around a hundred saplings in the government area.
  • To create awareness to the students about rising pollution.
  • To keep the surroundings clean and green.

Activities undertaken:
Clean –up drive
Plantation of saplings
           Small interaction:

Challenges faced:
  • Getting them involved.
  • Engaging all of them into plantation of saplings.
  • Time management for other activities.
  • Media coverage

Future plans:
  • A trip to different places every year.
  • Maintenance of saplings planted.
  • To bring awareness among students in different areas

  • Toilets: No water supply to the taps present in the student washrooms. The solution that we have suggested was to connect overhead tank outlet to pipeline of washroom.
  • Old Buildings: After observing the poor condition of an old block of school buildings we explained the problem with the village and school authorities.
  • O H Projector:  Overhead projector provided by the government before eight years and still untouched, we got a bundle of slides and handed it over to the in charge and explained its operation.
  • Computer lab: There are around eighteen computers in which more than half are out of working condition with minor issues. We prepared a list of devices that are to be repaired.
  • Stationery items: We distributed some essential stationery to students like exam pads, pens, pencils, etc.
  • Science laboratory: Most of the chemicals present in lab are almost expired.  We intimated to the lab in charge who ensured us the immediate replacement of those.
  • Collapsed Compound Wall: The part of a compound wall was damaged the “Hud Hud” cyclone in 2014. We implemented the idea of “BIO FENCING” by plant thorny shrubs instead of rebuilding the wall for temporary time.

    • 36 hours

  1. ROAD AHEAD:
  • Staying in touch with the school authorities and enquiring regarding changes in the mind set of student and also about the condition of plantation we did and the cleanliness they are maintaining.
  1. ROSES AND THORNS:
We felt very much privileged for taking up this project. This was our first experience to do such life changing work. This Work not only created awareness in students but also in us too. After going to school, we spoke to them and they were Very kind to us and felt very much happy that we came for helping them in some aspects. That overwhelmed feeling shown by the children made us very much cheerful though the outdoor work should be done in the scorching sun. We felt very much gloomy for the hardships that are being taken by the children at that age. They don’t even had place to eat lunch. But the thing that we want to say is that they never mind the problems they are facing, all they know is being kind to others. Their innocent faces and lovely pranks made us rejoice and that made us to remember our childhood.

(SSR16-016) Samajika Dayitva

1.       TITLE :
“Samajika Dayitva”

2.        MISSION :
·         We aim to encourage young people’s understanding of the environment and of the need for sustainability.
·          A common mistake we make when it comes to environmental issues, and most other issues for that matter, is that we tend to focus all our efforts on shaping behaviours rather than attitudes. “Change an attitude, and the behaviour will follow”.
·         Major current environmental issues include climate change, pollution, environmental degradation, and resource depletion. Hence, was took an example of each with a video and presented to them

PLACE : Z.P HIGH SCHOOL (Prakasham district)

4.       ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN
  • To help people lead a sustainable livelihood by spreading awareness on basic requirements such “POLLUTION CONTROL”, “ECOLOGICAL IMBALANCE”, “YOGA”,
 ”INDIAN ARMY”, “BASIC TECHNICAL SKILLS”.
·         To help social groups and individuals acquire awareness and sensitivity towards the environment as a whole, and issues, questions and problems related to environment and development.
·         To help individuals, groups and societies gain a variety of experience in, and acquire a basic understanding of what is required to create and maintain a sustainable environment.
·         To help individuals, groups and societies acquire a set of values and feelings of concern for the environment, and the motivation to actively participate in protection of the environment and the skills for identifying, anticipating, preventing and solving environmental problems.

          BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
·         Majority of India still lives in villages and so the topic of rural education in India is of utmost importance. A survey shows that even though the number of rural students attending schools is rising, but more than half of the students in fifth grade are unable to read a second grade text book and are not able to solve simple mathematical problems.
·         Any country’s environmental problems are related to the level of its economic development, the availability of natural resources and the lifestyle of its population. In India, rapid growth of population, poverty, urbanization, industrialization and several related factors are responsible for the rapid degradation of the environment. Environmental problems have become serious in many parts of the country, and hence cannot be ignored.

5.       ACHIEVEMENTS :
·         We were able to explain and make them understandclearly about what we are explaining.
·         There were very talented and got so much benifited by us.
·         They were able to understand clearly about what we were explaining till the end of the session.
·         We made them to plant saplings around the school and they did the same at their homes too.
·         As they got to know about Indian army, some of them showed interest to choose it as an option for their career.

6.       OBSTACLES FACED :
Convincing the principal to conduct the awareness programs in their busy schedule and children to attend the awareness session.

Meeting at a particular place and deciding the agenda as everyone live in different parts of the city.

Making children understand how important it is for their future if they continue their education.

As the village is underdeveloped, there was no proper food facility, and we have to stay starved for long hours. But didn’t left in the middle.

At first no one was interested in attending the camp and it was a challenge for us to motivate them.

     ROAD AHEAD:
·         In recent decades government has made significant progress on access to schooling and enrolment rates in primary education but dropout rates and low levels of learning remain challenges for the state and central government. Without immediate and urgent help, these children cannot effectively progress in the education system, and so improving the quality of learning in schools is the next big challenge for both the state and central governments.
·          Making people aware of government’s policies and its steps towards the development of the country. Discussions, case studies, or other interactive methods will bring about more visible change. Discussion forums and blogs can help in planning activities and reaching out to many people. Technology can also foster interactive learning, building videos and hosting a website for the same. Although the use of teaching technology presents challenges, it has the potential to achieve goals.

TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
·         Number of hours-48hrs

  ROSES AND THORNS :
·         The main thing we all commonly experienced was how to gives lectures in a crowd. We personally practiced two to three times before delivering the lectures because nothing should go wrong and we should not be blamed. We learnt many new things while preparing for lectures. We memorized our childhood and enjoyed a lot with students and interacted with them in a peaceful manner Since the school is in village, while planting those samplings they showed such a dedication and we observed that they are showing a bit more affection on those saplings.
